Our ophthalmologists are experts in their field who are committed to helping members of the community achieve the best possible vision. Our lead surgeon, A/Prof Smita Agarwal, has performed well over 10,000 ophthalmic surgeries. In addition, Dr. Agarwal is a well- respected educator, mentor and researcher. She is regularly asked to speak at local and international conferences and has published research papers in peer reviewed journals several times.

Dr. Paul Hughes has been an Australian leader in cataract and refractive surgery for over 35 years. He was the first Australian ophthalmologist to train in, and perform, radial keratotomy to correct for myopia. Additionally, he was one of the first Australian ophthalmologists to use the excimer laser for vision correction. Dr. Hughes was involved in a global research project that demonstrated the safe and precise nature of laser technology to perform cataract surgery.
